"WE" the Change
There is no doubt about it...Changing the world can be an arduous and sometimes disheartening task! We face so many issues that are weakening humanity as a whole by taking away the potential contributions of so many individuals. As Gandhi pointed out, it is important to be the change we wish to see in the world. Yet, if we could first teach ourselves and spread the message that we are a "WE", then our efforts at finding solutions would be so much more successful and sustainable!
If we can first learn to accept and respect each other as equally valuable and significant human beings, then many of our social issues would cease to exist. For those that are not immediately 'cured' by this knowledge of equality, attention would be paid and a solution would be found quickly as: 1) We would extend our strengths to lift one another, 2) We would realize that what affects one, affects ALL, and 3) We would work together in collaboration to overcome the challenges that we face.
So, a very powerful first step in changing the world is changing our minds to "WE".
Social Enterprises Can Help!
If we can share the 'social enterprise' model with more and more businesses, we can gain many more advocates and also revenue for facing and overcoming our global and local social issues. Not only can these companies make a big impact, but partnering a non-profit organization with these types of businesses can be very beneficial for both.
What is Social Enterprise and what does the Power in We have to do with it?
Social Enterprise is a business or venture with a social mission. This can be a non-profit or for-profit entity. The for-profit social enterprise is an exciting new business model with great promise for causing social change while maintaining sustainability of the business and benefiting the entrepreneur through profits. It is what some are calling capitalism with a conscience and what many believe will be the future model for true success. It is the perfect partneship of philanthropy and prosperity.
The Power in WE adopts this business model, as a large portion of our profits goes toward youth programs, peace inititiatives, and various non-profit organizations. And also we provide informational materials to non-profits for little or no cost that can be used for educational purposes and/or to raise funds.
